Set up Arch Linux with Hyprland from just receiving ROG Flow X13

Before Installing Arch - What to do with System-Windows

Setting up System-Windows

  • Set up a Windows account offline (optional)
    • Offline set up could avoid login to Microsoft account and set up wired windows account name
    • There are ways, but Microsoft has banned a few ways:
      • Open Windows terminal and enable the option for setting up offline
  • Setup UTC time for Windows
  • Update the firmware using Asus, AC, and Windows Update.

Adjusting the Partition (move the partitions)

  • Reasons for adjusting the partition table:
    • The size for the first boot partition is not enough for GRUB under multiboot kernels
    • Making the Windows system compact (MSR partition, windows main system, and recovery)
  • Way to adjust the partition table with gparted:
    • Notice before start: it is dangerous to move a partition even with using gparted, back up the important information (like recovery files), understand, accept, and be responsible for the risk. You can find some information here about parted.
    • The Reason using gparted instead of parted: The usage of gparted instead of parted is because some of the features in gparted is removed in parted.
    • Boot into gparted: Download the gparted image, verify checksums, boot into the image using USB or so.
    • Adjust the partition table using gparted.
